Founding

Dissident Congress was founded in central London on the 19th day of June 2004 as the result of an initiative of Russell White - who was then the leader of the Populist Party. The inaugural meeting saw representatives or observers from a variety of political parties, movements, and groups - including the Freedom Party, the Populist Party, the Conservative Democratic Alliance, the Campaign for National Democracy, the London Swinton Circle, and the British Weights and Measures association - in addition to a number of independent patriots.

A discussion was held about the 2004 Euro elections and how the outcome was likely to influence the course of politics over the forthcoming years.

The organisation

Dissident Congress is an independent nationalist political movement based in the United Kingdom. We are not affiliated with any political party and neither are we connected with any organisation of the same name operating outside of the United Kingdom. We like to think of our organisation as a movement rather than a pressure group because we do not believe that any of the establishment political parties will ever support our aims and objectives.

Our six basic aims are:

  1. To promote and publicise Populist Patriotism as a viable replacement for the past and present failed ideologies of the establishment parties.
  2. To co-ordinate various single issue patriotic groups such as the Campaign for an Independent Britain (CIB) and the British Weights and Measures Association (BWMA).
  3. To support Populist Patriotic parties and candidates at election time.
  4. To promote and preserve tradition British culture and heritage.
  5. To wake up the British electorate by making them aware of the horrors of the EU and dangers of globalised capitalism.
  6. To win back Britain as a nation by overthrowing the tyrannies of social liberalism, Marxism, political correctness, gags on free speech, religious fundamentalism, and rampant laissez-faire dog-eat-dog global capitalism.

Direct democracy

Dissident Congress is strongly committed to implementing direct democracy in Britain giving power to the people through the use of a referendum, with the subjects decided by the voters, not the politicians! The Swiss have referenda in their constitution so their own people can decide on everyday issues. Why don't we the British have such a facility in our political system? Surely it's time for real democracy rather than the bogus democracy of a general election once every four or five years?

Direct democracy lets people decide by means of initiative, recall, and referendum.

Initiative allows a percentage of the voters to propose a law, or choose one for repeal, the results of which are binding.

Recall allows voters to remove corrupt or inefficient politicians from office mid-term rather than only at election time.

Referendum is the right to petition for a vote on a bill which has already passed through parliament (or local government) but not yet taken effect.
